A surprise visitor this afternoon...

Share --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A female nuthatch flew inside through the kitchen window today unscathed and very friendly. After this quick photo op she hopped on my shoulder to ride with me through the house to the front door and outside. She seemed quite content to remain there but with a little nudge took flight back into the trees. Quite literally made my day. Click on photos to view large. Enjoy!

This is something very, very special and I am so very happy for you and that you were also able to document the event.
For me birds are unique creatures and in a way messengers so it will be interesting to see what unfolds.
A long time ago, we to had a bird fly into our house but it was scared. We have had bats enter the front door and fly out through the kitchen door on a hot summers night.
A few weeks ago I was startled by a large dragonfly in the living room.
Well enough about me, I still cannot get over this very fortunate event that graced your life today.

This moment will live with you forever

Oh how sweet. I love the little birds. You must have made her feel at ease somehow. My grandmother would have thought it a sign (good of course) of some kind!!! :)

Hey Trudi! Long time lurker, first time commenter. While I LOVE LOVE LOVE your work, your little visitor here made me squeal with delight. How cool is that? Also, if you search for "nuthatch" and "totem" you'll find your little friend had quite a big message for you! To wit: "Nuthatch: Grounding of faith and higher wisdom, teaches true path to realization is learning to manifest the spiritual within the physical." If you get a mo be sure to read up from Ted Andrews book "Animal Spirits" where he goes a little bit more in depth as to the nuthatch's message.

It is not everyday that such a beautiful little creature comes in for a visit - you are lucky indeed, and maybe have something incredible about to happen. There are old wives' tales about what it means when a bird flies in for a visit and I love the idea they are bringing good news and good fortune.

My heart just skipped a beat when I saw this little nuthatch sitting so calmly on the shelf in your home and on your finger! Don't you just feel like moments like this are divine gifts?! I always do. THanks so much for sharing. Oh by the way, your logo and link are now prominently displayed on my blog.
