The Fool - Buffalo Theory

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The inspiration for this digital tarot card came from a character in an old TV series "Cheers" In it Cliff Clavin played a postman who during one episode, told his pal, Norm, about "the Buffalo Theory." It goes like this: "Well you see, Norm, it's like this... A herd of buffalo can only move as fast as the slowest buffalo and when the herd is hunted, it is the slowest and weakest ones at the back that are killed first. This natural selection is good for the herd as a whole, because the general speed and health of the whole group keeps improving by the regular killing of the weakest members.
In much the same way, the human brain can only operate as fast as the slowest brain cells. Now, as we know, excessive drinking of alcohol kills brain cells. But naturally, it attacks the slowest and weakest brain cells first. In this way, regular consumption of beer eliminates the weaker brain cells, making the brain a faster and more efficient machine. And that, Norm, is why you always feel smarter after a few beers.

Cabinet of Curiousity

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is a cabinet I just began working on. I plan to create a visual 'story' of sorts, similar to Byrons' Magical Mystery Tour and fill the shelves with artful objects.

"Geta" Collage Box

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I've had a 'thing' about boxes for as long as I can remember. I love them and have far too many. This week I indulged and decided to collage the below box. I think I found my niche! The feet for the box are meant to reflect the Asian "Geta" wooden sandals. I still have some things I want to add, but it's essentially finished. Back View

Back to Basics

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
After two years of suppressing a voice in my mind planted by several art teachers, I've finally decided to start drawing again - hoping to make it a daily routine. I hope to use my blog as a record, scanning and adding my fledgling efforts here. I've decided to not focus on finishing each drawing but instead pick a new subject each day and leave it after an hour, moving on each day. Above is an unfinished portrait in pencil along with the original magazine clipping from a San Diego tourist magazine. Below is another magazine clipping with the unfinished portrait and two that I altered digitally.

"The People You Meet When You're Walkin Down the Street"

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Since "Film Exploration" in my high school years, I've always enjoyed photographing human faces. The collection below captures snapshots of perfect strangers, who've been gracious enough to allow me to photograph them, in the moment.
