I Heart Textures

Share --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This week I wanted to continue with posting a few photos of delicious textures.  The two photos below are  both orders I placed on Etsy this week.  I am beginning to get a vision in my mind of the butterflies I will be creating for The Butterfly Effect project and theoretically plan to include these purchases in the butterflies.

The first image is  handspun recycled and uncarded sari silk yarn (fair trade) and the second one -again, sari silk ribbon skeins.  Links to the Etsy shops I found these in are posted below each photo.

I know that Lorraine Stobie is also a texture and color junkie and lucky for me, she created a skinny page for me several months ago that combined both elements  in a strikingly harmonious way.  She created this skinny depicting a forest floor interspersed with flowers.   Striking isn't it?  Thanks again Lorraine.  For more information on the techniques she used, you can visit her website here

Finally, just a sneak 'macro' preview of one of the butterflies that arrived this week - from another  obviously talented and gifted textile and surface design artist - Sharne Gregory - I will have the full photos of the butterflies posted tomorrow in my weekly update. But if you can't wait :o) until then you can see Sharne's butterflies on her blog by clicking here

Trudi the texture and color photos are beautiful. Christine's skinny (I don't know what a skinny is) is so gorgeous. I really like the butterflies fying around your blog, where can I get some for my blog?

Hi Trudi, I've always loved your digital collages, but whenever you post textures/fabric art my heart simply melts! Beautiful fibers, and I look forward to your beautiful butterflies. I just finished stitching my butterfly and just need to add some finishing touches. You will still get mine in the mail soon!

I found your post to be so exciting today. I love the way you have added the flitting butterflies to match your butterfly project. I also love the luscious looking Sari ribbons in the second picture of your Etsy purchases.

Lorraine's fiber piece is really lovely. She is so good with her texture.

So, thanks for the visual post, it got my morning off to a good start.

The sari ribbon is wonderful. I've been using sari scraps in some of my needlefelting and it gives a beautiful sheen and texture. THANK YOU so much for posting a beautiful photo of my skinny with the details. Good thing you took a close up of one of my "good" french knots! Butterfly looks intriguing. Am enjoying your texture series but naturally you knew I would!
