My father-in-law left his body tonight.  He lived just over a year after he was diagnosed with cancer.  He never once uttered a negative word about his situation.  He is an angel.

The Eskimos say this about stars -
“Perhaps they are not stars, but rather openings in heaven where the love of our lost ones pours through and shines down upon us to let us know they are happy.”

I feel the same way  about butterflies.

I am sorry to hear about your loss. That is a beautiful saying from the Eskimo's, I will not look at the stars the same and it is comforting, thank you. I also feel the same about butterflies...they always seem to flutter in when you least expect them but just when you need them the most.

I am so sorry for your lose. My thoughts are with you. I feel the same way about butterflies too. Also whenever I find a feather I feel my mom has been there just letting me know she is OK and still with me.

Your father-in-law sounds like he already was an angel on earth. I become infuriated every time I hear of someone passing on after loosing the war with cancer..but I won't elaborate on that now.

That was a beautiful quote and I love the second butterfly. Thanks so much.

An extra year of life! I can imagine that he woke up each day smiling. And, now he is free of all pain and ill health. He's been released from his physical body and like the butterflies now is his true being.
I know you miss him. Talk to the wind, he'll hear you. :)Bea

I am sorry for your loss, my fil passed from cancer last December and it's never easy, but he too was ready and thankfully didn't have to suffer too much.
I love the Eskimo saying, how lovely that is.
Take care, my thoughts are with you and your family right now :)

I am so sorry for your loss. I absolutely believe my father sent me butterflies after he passed away. They all have their ways of letting us know they are still around.

When I was very young I knew that I always had been - your father-in-law has gone where he came from - where we all are going to. Where we all came from. Where we all will meet again!

My sympathies to your family about your fil. I love the Eskimo saying. But I have to warn you - I made a doll once for a family who had lost their daughter and used that saying on a little banner she was carrying - posted it on my website...and promptly got a cease and desist order from Hallmark. Evidently that saying was written by someone at the company on one of their cards and is their 'original'. I came back blasting them of course since I wasn't making the doll to sell and because of the whole situation. They eventually apologized and told me not to use it again. Scary and sad thought about having to be careful when we want to pass on a beautiful saying so all can enjoy isn't it? Hugs!
