Blog Giveaway - Draw October 31st

I just wanted to acknowledge the new followers to this blog and thank you for taking an interest in my various musings. A day never passes without a yearning to create and to be noticed makes it even more enjoyable. So, I thought it was time to express my appreciation, to you, to mark the changing season and the upcoming Tricks and Treats and post a free draw. The prizes (I can't only have one winner) will be a selection of ATC's from my Eleanor series. Below is my most recent Eleanor, but there are 38 others here to choose from. Time Travel and the Case of the Mistaken Face

"Time Travel" - 4 x 8 inch digital

This collage ended up being very enjoyable as I allowed my muse to soar into my childhood imagination and love of fantasizing about going back to the past or into the future. "Back to the Future" was a movie I always enjoyed watching with my children when they were young. I'd posted a draft of this collage a few days back but as you can see, it resembles very little of the initial draft apart from the vintage image of the young man. I imagined he'd become confused in programming his time travel and mistakenly entered in 'face' instead of CLOCK face. It's good to play! Here is the earlier (and my favored) rendition of this same collage. I prefer this color combination, but the specs call for rust and turquoise.

The specs for this page was - "Travel" - must have a mode of transportation included and a touch of rust and turquoise. I've always loved Paper Whimsy figures - this one, though haunting, seemed to work well in the context of flight. Other images from Hemera or public domain.

Mermaid was extracted from J.W.Waterhouse's painting "A Mermaid" (see below) door - Paper Whimsy and background, a scan of my own hand-painted background. Experimenting....Living....Creating....Learning...Starting over again......

" Le Dome" - 4 x 8 inches

Are you tired of seeing this image yet? I thought I was moving along quite nicely. Since I had never tried HP Iron On Transfers, I thought I'd give them a try first as I had a package collecting dust in my studio. The image transferred nicely onto linen. At first I was a little disappointed with the coating of the transfer but decided to press on thinking I may add some beeswax after the sewing since it has a similar patina. I sewed the linen image onto a piece of quilt batting and then added some vintage lace and outline stitched the frame. AND THEN, I realized I hadn't reversed the image before I'd copied it so the "Carpe Diem" as you can see, is reversed as is my signature. C'est la vie. Does that translate into Seize the Night? Not what you could call 'a happy accident' - but I'm thinking I might be able to press on by creating a piece of fabric with Carpe Diem on it and sewing it over. As for my signature...I'm ok with leaving it be. Or perhaps I'll scrap it and print a new image straight on to fabric in the printer.

PS...update........ I couldn't put this image up again as ANOTHER post - so here's the solution I found....a relatively flat embellishment that echoes the 'printed' gold heart below it....

Final Draft - "Untitled"

Well, I think I've mucked around with this enough to say it's ready to be printed on fabric and sewn. Although several of the images are the same as the draft I uploaded yesterday, I've added a few and worked with the colors to a point where I'm satisfied. One of the artists has chosen "hats" as her theme - I'm still not sure what I'll name this image...any suggestions? Thanks as always for reading.
