Mermaid Skinny Pages for Cat

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Another project completed  and almost ready for the mail.  All that's left is for me to complete a written portion that I will enclose this time inside of the actual two pages.

I have left one of the short sides open as, when they are sewn together with one side open, there is  a nice deep pocket and I thought it would be fun to have a secret little 'envelope' to add a few thoughts in it...fun for those exploring it in the years that come.

Grandchildren maybe, or who knows where these little pieces of art I send out into the world will end up when I'm long gone...I often wonder if they'll end up at flea markets or garage sales or estate sales.... all of these altered books we collect over the years.

I know I'll be sharing them as magical little parcels of wonder with my grandchildren and passing them onto my daughters when I leave.

The woman I am sending this to is a sweetheart, and was my truly secret santa this past Christmas.  She sent me a beautiful book of Maggie Taylor's whimsically beautiful art, gift wrapped equally as special.  I don't know if she fully realizes what a gift she gave me when it arrived ...  a memory I will treasure for a lifetime.

It was a wonderful surprise.  So,  I've been looking forward to the month in our project that was the time for me to create a page for her.  Her name is Cat and her blog is http://www.catworx.blogspot.com/

Girlfriends...et al

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Girlfriends et al" - digital collage

Image Credits in part:  from www.DeviantScrap.com, Tangie Baxter, and Holliewood Studios - kits TeddyBearTeaParty - hats and ArtDollies - Background, goose,  and bird

This collage features 3 young girls from  Magnificat, by Boticelli (1490)   I decided to add the major portion of the original painting into this collage.  It's in the upper right hand corner, inside the far right tree.  Here's the original painting -

I created this reflecting back on a situation of a very kind person who was so sweet to me and wanted her to know how much she is loved.  And now I hope to stay clear of my passion for these digital collages and instead focus on other tasks at hand,  like visiting other people's blogs and spending some time in the yard, considering we are finally experiencing some warmer weather!

Thanks to everyone that visits here for your encouraging and generous comments!   If you also post your work on a blog, you'll know as well how much it is appreciated.  I'll be back in a few days.

This print is now available on etsy at http://www.twodresses.etsy.com/

Fish Lullaby - adapted from Raphael's St. Catherine of Alexandria

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I made a different version of this for Marsha of TumbleFish Studio as a 'pretend' cover for her memoirs...just playing. I can't recall right now the name of the master who painted the fabulous figure...if you know it, please leave a comment so I can leave credit.

Image Credit UPDATE - Thanks to Linda, a wonderful artist, great friend, and art history expert, who answered my question as follows:
"St. Catherine of Alexandria by Raphael, she is looking toward the divine light rays coming from the sky and she is leaning on the wheel of Martyrdom that have been rounded so as not to hurt as much - apparently..."

The other image  are available at www.DeviantScrap.com and the heart, background and wings are HolliewoodStudios - Love and War, and Art Dollies, the Hat and Fish - from Tumblefish Studio

New Tumblefish "Take" on an old Sunday Postcard entry and The Codtail Dress

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I stumbled across an older digital postcard I had created for a Sunday Postcard challenge a couple of weeks ago and decided to add a few additional images from one of Marsha's kits  from Tumblefish Studio http://www.deviantscrap.com/    Here's the updated version that has the 'divers' as well as the SunnySide and Sparkling images... more fun!

And the above digital collage was a fashion update exclusive featuring Fish as the 'new black' - I obviously had fish on my mind quite a bit when I created these two - now how could that be????   :0)

The second collage is made up of elements from Tumble Fish Studio as well and  plus the chest and the dress form come from The Thing Finder by HolliewoodStudios, both at http://www.deviantscrap.com/

As I started playing with this digital doodle, I discovered I began to sing "Midnight at the Oasis" by Maria Muldair and realized how often my muse seems to add lyrics into my mind as I am creating.  Is this something you experience too?
