A couple of digis created over the weekend...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Collage Keeper - digital collage

Above,  a low-resolution version of my latest digital collage that I thought reflected how I have been feeling over the last couple of months with the number of fabulous images that I am using at Deviant Scrap.  I am really seeing the endless possibilities that having png files gives an artist, both in the digital format and in mixed media collage, cut and paste.  Marsha (Tumblefish Studios) has been busy again and added a few more packages to her offerings.  The central figure of the angel is from her new Angels package and the digital collage that follows is exclusively from the "Angels."

For pure twisted fun! " PU Foot Powder"

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Oh BOY. I can't really explain to you where my mind was at when I created this image. But one thing lead to another and I ended up with a bit of a twisted PU skinny. I was in quite a playful mood. I really enjoy using Tumblefish Studio elements - although nothing I can do can come close to comparing to Marsha's wonderful work.  It's fun trying!

And, I'm now officially finished my exchanges for the month of May, which will give me lots of spare time to begin to think about gardening!

Here's a few views - in no particular order!

Latest Skinny Page - May 2010

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Today I finished off the first side of a page I am making this month for Rande Hanson, one of the artists in my 'larger' skinny page project. She requested "Grunge".  I decided to borrow from Kurt Cobain's song "Come as You Are" as the inspiration for this collage, since Nirvana was one of the original Grunge Bands.   It's a cut and paste collage with a layer of beeswax that I applied over each piece before I glued them on.  I am planning to add some wire to the grommets, but thought I'd scan it prior to that final step.

Update - Here's the back/front  now together....ready to mail.

With Suzie Que in mind....

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Suzie - approx 12 x 12 inch digital art

I was purely playing with different color combinations and saturations and elements that I hadn't yet worked with.  The face is from Suzie Que at Flickr and I learned this week she passed away recently.  If I was ever stuck for an image of a face, she would have one that would inspire.  I only corresponded with her once to offer to send her some artwork as a way to thank her for her generousity, but she refused.  So, she remained a stranger with a huge capacity to give so freely.  Thank you Suzie.

Challenge - Fear - Don't it always seem to go....

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
One of the challenges I decided to participate in at Deviant Scrap was to express a fear through a digital collage. The entries in this challenge are startling and further sparked my interest, as I've come to believe how art really can be a useful form of therapy and personal growth.   I often feel inspired by song lyrics and   I borrowed from Joni Mitchell's lyrics from The  Big Yellow Taxi -

They paved paradise
And put up a parking lot
With a pink hotel, a boutique
And a swinging hot spot
Don't it always seem to go
That you don't know what you've got
Till it's gone
They paved paradise
And put up a parking lot
They took all the trees
Put'em in a tree museum
And they charged the people
A dollar and a half just to see 'em
Don't it always seem to go
That you don't know what you've got
Till it's gone
They paved paradise
And put up a parking lot
Hey farmer farmer
Put away the D.D.T. now
Give me spots on my apples
But leave me the birds and the bees
Please!
Don't it always seem to go
That you don't know what you've got
Till it's gone
They paved paradise
And put up a parking lot
Late last night
I heard my screen door slam
And a big yellow taxi
Took away my old man
Don't it always seem to go
That you don't know what you've got
Till it's gone
They paved paradise
And put up a parking lot.
